Zainab Salbi is a women's rights activist, writer and public speaker. At 23, Zainab foundedWomen for Women International, a grassroots humanitarian and development organizationdedicated to serving women survivors of wars by offering support, tools, and access tolife-changing skills to move from crisis and poverty to stability and economic self-sufficiency. In
her move to journalism and media, Zainab created and hosted several shows like #MeToo, Now
What?, The Zainab Salbi Project and The Nidaa Show having interviewed Oprah Winfrey on it.
Zainab has been consistently identified as one of the women who has had a strong impact inleading change for women who are emotionally traumatized and sensitizing the people in the
community to show love, care and respect.
In this episode, Zainab walks us through her early days of finding herself, living with her
insecurities, discovering the light and shadows within herself and to accept the parts played bypeople in the backdrop of our lives whether it be good or bad. Zainab sheds light on witnessingthe horrors of war firsthand growing up in Iraq; the path to transformation by those experiencesand building her inner peace with the life lessons learnt along the way. We also get an insightinto her relationship with the significant people in her life, the choices she makes when reacting
to unpleasant situations and always coming out stronger by appreciating and reflecting on the
good there is to offer. Zainab believes the happiness she derives from seeing random acts ofkindness is far greater than the anxiety she felt while growing up.
